How to Find Broken External Links
To find all broken external and inbound links of a site, click the Xenu's Link Sleuth toolbar “Check URL” icon on the left and enter a WWW address in the Xenu's Link Sleuth starting point. If the address finishes with a directory name, don't forget to put a / at the end (e.g. http://www.host.com/user/). You can also find a specific link URL and filter out a URL in the Include and Exclude URL options.
When you start the link-checking process, Xenu's Link Sleuth follows the Website’s links to other pages, and checks the links on those pages also, so it is possible to check an entire site for broken links in one session. It displays a continuously updated list of URLs which shows the link status, type of link content, title, level of depth and other useful link information. A link-checking process can be pause and resume at any time.
